Abbott Endorses House Transportation Committee’s Ron Simmons

November 28, 2017

As part of a series of November endorsements, Governor Greg Abbott is throwing his support to some members of the Texas House of Representatives, including state Representative Ron Simmons, a member of the House Transportation Committee and vice chairman of the House Business & Industry Committee.

In a minute-long video released Tuesday Abbott called Simmons a principled leader who’s “committed to growing the economy, creating more jobs and improving our schools.”

Simmons was also an Abbott ally during the so-called “bathroom bill” controversy.

Abbott also endorsed Energy Resources committee Chairman Drew Darby on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Abbott endorsed the Republican opponent of Houston-area state Representative Sarah Davis, who didn’t support the governor’s agenda.

Abbott has also announced support of Houston-area Rep. Greg Bonnen.  Among his bills in the 2017 legislature was the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) reform legislation.

And Abbott has endorsed Dallas County-area Rep. Rodney Anderson; Constitutional attorney and Ft. Worth-area Rep. Matt Krause and Government Transparency & Operation committee member Jeff Leach.
