A Central Texas connection to the Valero refining complex south of downtown Houston is underway.
A Valero subsidiary, V-Texas Logistics LLC, has purchased property and will be preparing to lay 16-inch pipe to move refined products through the 136-mile line, which is expected to cost about $380 million.
An agreement with Magellan subsidiary Magellan Pipeline Co. LP announced last fall is for joint construction to be completed by the middle of 2019.
San Antonio-based independent Valero’s group has purchased property off Chandler Road (also known as University Blvd. as an exit from I-35) in Williamson County, east of Round Rock, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.
The more than 88 acres are just northwest of the city of Taylor.
The pipeline is also set to include a storage terminal to be built outside the city of Hearne, northwest of Bryan-College Station, where Magellan maintains a property, and will give Valero access to Central Texas markets for its refined products such as gasoline.
