Southwestern Energy says it may sell assets in Arkansas as part of a new focus on Appalachian shale.
The company is based in the Houston area but started out in Arkansas and has long maintained its Fayetteville Shale play land, pipeline and processing projects.
The company has admittedly been struggling lately, and CEO Bill Way said this week that Southwestern is looking to cut its debt.
The Spring-based company said profits from a possible sale would allow a reduction in costs and a stronger bottom line, allowing for increased E&P in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
