New York’s Shearman and Sterling law firm has just moved into its new office in Austin and its already planning an expansion into Houston.
And while the Austin branch is specializing in venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, corporate governance and disputes, the planned Houston office will focus on energy transactions, including oil and gas and projects.
No date has yet been set for the opening of the planned office.
The firm said its move will expand on already well-respected energy law offices in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.
Senior Partner David Beveridge said that the “entrance into Texas, initially with our Austin presence, signifies our continued commitment to our growth plans in the U.S. and the emerging growth sector.”
