Energy Lawyer Hoffman Goes To Baker Botts, Among Robust Attorney Lateral Moves Market

July 3, 2018

Kirkland & Ellis energy lawyer Justin Hoffman has jumped to Baker Botts‘ Houston office.

Hoffman started on June 13th, handling debt and equity capital markets transactions and corporate governance and compliance work, the firm said.

Texas Lawyer notes that, in the middle of a robust market for attorney moves as out-of-state law firms establish in Texas, Baker Botts has lost three partners, including Hugh Tucker, the former chair of the oil and gas and projects practices, who’s helping Shearman & Sterling launch its Houston office.

And last year, “six energy partners moved from Baker Botts to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s new Houston office,” Texas Lawyer noted.
