A former Texas Economic Development Corp. member is the latest to join the Port of Corpus Christi.
Omar Garcia was appointed to the TEDC in 2010 by Governor Rick Perry, and has most recently been CEO of STEER, the South Texas Energy and Economic Roundtable.
He’s now the port’s chief external affairs officer.
Garcia is well-versed in oil and gas as well as public and economic policy.
“His long-standing relationships with our elected officials, local, state and federal agencies, and our customers will serve us well as we continue to develop the requisite infrastructure designed to facilitate more exports of American energy abroad and drive economic growth for the Coastal Bend, the state of Texas, and the nation,” Port of Corpus Christi CEO Sean Strawbridge said in a statement Tuesday.
