The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) says Texas continues to lead the nation in total wind power construction.
Texas would rank sixth in the world today in total wind capacity if it were an independent country.
And Dallas-based Tri Global Energy, one of 13 wind power developers with projects underway in Texas, says it has more capacity under construction than the other 12 developers combined.
A third-quarter 2018 market report from the AWEA indicates Tri Global’s wind projects represent about 3,528 Mw, more than 57% of the megawatts under development in the state.
Texas has 6,148 MW reported wind power capacity being built, 30% of the national total, the AWEA noted.
The U.S. had a record of nearly 21GW of wind power capacity under construction as the end of the third quarter of 2018.
