Plains All American Offering Grants to Public Safety Personnel Ahead Of New Pipeline Through Brown County: Report

January 9, 2019

Plains All American is offering a million dollars in grants to public safety agencies in close proximity to the company’s planned pipeline, an official in Brown County announced Monday.

New County Judge Paul Lilly told his county commissioners that Houston-based Plains — which already has a pipeline to Houston running through southern Brown County — plans a second pipeline to be built in the northern portion.

Lilly said he’s spoken with Plains representatives who say the pipeline will get underway this year, and it “will employ approximately 3,000 people.

Some of those obviously will come from Brown County.”

Lilly was quoted in the Brownwood Bulletin as saying the funds will be granted “to all of the public safety agencies including law enforcement, fire and EMS, but particularly the volunteer fire departments that are within a 30-mile range the pipeline.”
