Bill Removing Victoria County From “Non-Attainment” Air Quality List Goes to Governor

May 10, 2019

Legislation to remove Victoria County from the state list of counties on the “non-attainment” list for air quality is ready for the governor’s signature.

Rep. Geanie Morrison‘s HB 1627 would amend the state Health and Safety Code to remove Victoria County as an affected county for purposes of the Texas emissions reduction plan because, even though the county has been listed among geographical areas that do not meet the primary standards for clean air, the county has not been designated a formal “non-attainment” area since the EPA redesignated the area around two decades ago, according to Rep. Morrison.
