Increased Inspections of “Aggregate Production Operations” Moves From Senate to Texas House

May 9, 2019

The Texas Senate has unanimously passed a bill that would increase inspections of quarries, sand pits, gravel pits and other aggregate production operations.

CSSB 694 by Sen. Kelly Hancock would change routine inspections from once every three years to once every two years and authorizes unannounced periodic inspections.

And the bill requires the Texas Commission on Envrionmental Quality to set the annual registration fee “in an amount sufficient to maintain a registry of active aggregate production operations” not to exceed $1,500, rather than $1,000.
