Texas appears to remain the hottest entry market in the nation for law firms — midsize Pittsburgh group Babst Calland Clements and Zomnir now has an office in the Houston area.
The firm closed last week on its purchase of the four-lawyer partnership, the Chambers Law Firm, in The Woodlands, north of the Energy Capital.
The office will be focused on oil and gas services.
Shareholder Les Chambers, who will lead the firm’s Woodlands office, told Law.com he hadn’t been actively seeking a merger partner, but the Babst Calland’s deal came at just the right time.
“We were at a point where we really needed to probably double in size,” he said.
