Midland mineral acquisition firm Pony Oil is continuing its long campaign of buying royalty acres, with its latest purchase in the Midland Basin.
The company said Tuesday it’s just acquired a total of 6,455 net royalty acres across 162,000 gross acres in the first 6 months of 2019, with 3,622 of those acres, or 56%, located in the core of the basin.
Pony’s operations include land in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Oklahoma as well as Texas.
Pony COO George Overbey said that despite the company’s expanding to “additional domestic basins, Pony Oil continues to focus on being the leader for mineral and royalty acquisitions in the Midland Basin.”
About the future Overbey said, “Whether it be from a geological, engineering, or land perspective, we believe our team is well-positioned to capitalize on opportunity as basins and strategies continue to evolve in our industry.”
