A New York State utility owner that’s been fighting for a pipeline has a Plan B involving a Houston-area company.
National Grid PLC has been pushing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for a new pipeline to bring in natural gas, but facing continued talks, the utility has contracted with Thigpen Solutions LLC based in Willis, north of Conroe.
The electricity supplier’s plan is to ease the winter heating fuel supply crunch during peak demand, according to Bloomberg News, by having Thigpen haul in gas to customers on Long Island when the weather is cold.
Thigpen would send two trucks an hour on specific days, CEO Sam Thigpen said.
