Railroad Commission Gets More Money In Appropriations

The Railroad Commission of Texas is receiving more funding for plugging wells and paying inspectors.

The commission early in the session identified a need for more field inspectors and, while noting that the abandoned well program is moving swiftly, the inventory of such wells is also increasing — and Article VI as approved by the Conference Committee on Appropriations on HB 1 included more than $67 million for the Railroad Commission to hire 22 field inspectors and increase the plugging of wells.
