Seaway Plans Open Season for Cushing-to-Coast Pipeline Expansion

November 29, 2019

Seaway Crude Pipeline Co. is beginning a search for clients in what could be a major expansion of an existing pipeline from Cushing OK down to the Gulf Coast.

The open season begins at 9 a.m. CST on December 16, 2019 and continues until 5 p.m. CST on February 14, 2020.

The expansion could provide an incremental 200,000 barrels per day (“BPD”), or more, of light crude capacity and include further quality enhancements in the segregation of heavy and light crude shipments.

The pipeline is aimed at easing the bottleneck between the Oklahoma hub and the coast and optimizing the system, principally through pump upgrades and depending on customer demand, the system could be expanded further.

Seaway said up to 100,000 bpd of initial light crude expansion capacity could be available following the expansion, beginning in the second half of 2020, with the expansion fully in service during 2022.

Seaway Crude is a 50/50 joint venture owned by affiliates of Enterprise Products Partners L.P. and Enbridge Inc.
