NET Power: Zero-Emissions NatGas to Electricity Tech Is Feeding ERCOT, Milestone for Energy Industry

November 17, 2021 — A Texas firm owned by two top energy companies, McDermott and a development capital company is touting a “revolutionary technology” that doesn’t spew emissions while generating electricity from natural gas.

La Porte-based NET Power said on Wednesday it has delivered electricity onto the ERCOT grid from its 50 MWth test facility — “the first time anywhere in the world this has been achieved,” a milestone for the energy industry.

Pres. Biden Accuses Oil Companies of Possible “Anti-Consumer Behavior”

November 17, 2021 — President Joe Biden on Wednesday sent a letter to the FTC calling for an investigation into “anti-consumer behavior by oil and gas companies” based on the difference between pump prices and the cost of unfinished gasoline.

President Biden wrote to Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, noting that the agency “has authority to consider whether illegal conduct is costing families at the pump. I believe you should do so immediately.”

Comstock Selling in the Bakken, Buying in the Haynesville

November 16, 2021 — Comstock Resources says it has closed on its sale of Bakken shale non-operated properties for $154 million and is preparing to buy more than 22,000 acres in the Haynesville.

The sale, retroactive to October 1st when the deal was signed, includes “non-operated interests in 442 producing wells (68.3 net) producing approximately 4,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day,” the company said, and it expects to recognize a pre-tax loss of $150-$160 million on the divestiture.
